Between These Walls No new can of worms, It leaves me in a state of shock, My friends outside, they can work nine to five, With one eye on their pocket and one on the clock, But still I sit between these walls, No bars on this cell, It’s not a room with a view, I find it strange, though I might be deranged, The law will turn a blind eye to you, But still I sit between these walls, It’s a new found faith, Many question what you see, Stay away when the tension breaks, The madman will be free, Till then I sit between these walls…

Indigo Mountain Rhapsody Seeing the light Seeing the day Seeing the time away Seeing the night Seeing the air Seeing the tourniquet Hearing the rain Hearing the sun Hearing the atmosphere Touching the pain Touching the hurt Touching there’s no-one here The refugees are lost inside The cauldron burns we hide Don’t you dare say you’re going away, You’re taking the bait completely, Find a way to find a way, Shoot the line discretely, Talk the knife to sell your life, Time to share the mainframe, To take your life impaled on knife, The agency’s the same pain, Holding the light Holding the day Holding the time away Holding the night Holding the air Holding the tourniquet Touching the rain Touching the sun Touching the atmosphere Facing the pain Facing the hurt Holding there’s no-one near The life blood flows through me, Disaster’s child, the third degree, See the light… …in her eyes See the night… …you despise Hear the rain… …see it fall Touch the pain… …the endless haul Holding the shame as before, Adding our hands, force for all, Hold the light… …in your hands Hold the night… …read the bands Touch the rain… …plant the seed Face the pain… …feel it bleed Feeding defies the soul, Take a cry, crash of hand

A Time That Was Look in the mirror do you like what you see? Where is the person you wanted to be? Is the image of one on which you could depend? If you met you today would you call you a friend? Life was so simple, a world without care, A time that was, in my mind I’m still there, I’ve taken these steps, I’d go back if I could, That was the time when I was most understood.

Holy Man 07:34
Holy Man Holy Man—Chasing shadows from the light, Fighting battles for what’s right, Holy Man—Helping others find their way, Chasing off their rainy day, You’ll before you talk, Crawl before you walk, Live before you die, I wonder why—Holy Man Born to save your fellow man, Help us all to understand. People say, You’re the hope we’ve waited for, Should I follow you to war? You’ll before you talk, Crawl before you walk, Live before you die, I wonder why—Holy Man Holy Man, You raise your battle cry. You say our cause is right, whether we live or die. Holy Man, your acts have no defence. What am I doing here? This war it makes no sense! Holy Man—No F-in lie I’ve lost my life, Can’t stop this feeling of hiraeth. I’ve cried before I talked, Crawled before I walked, Lived before I died, I wonder why—Holy Man

Again 06:00
Again Don’t wait up for me, I’ll get my own tea, Go to bed, don’t hesitate, I’ll tell you now; I’ll be late…again, And as the penny drops I find my meaning lacks sincerity, Beneath my hard held smile, You’ve touched my deepest sensitivity…again, Heat wave, summer last, It’s gone, not long passed, Turned water into wine, Will it be so fine…again? While you were standing there, I found a meaning to absurdity, Tears springing from my eyes, As I fell backwards to infinity, Water the flowers please my dear, Don’t want the weeds to grow in here, I think, with all this rain, I’ve got water on the brain, Turn the tap and let it out, All things turn about…again, Lying asleep last night, I thought I was a man to dominate, But now I’ve thought again, I know I’ll just lie here and ruminate, Prune down the roses, won’t you learn, Don’t want them growing out of turn…again.

Alive and Well I can’t believe that you’re no longer here, That you’re gone when you were so near, And all those thoughts I can’t keep to myself, My precious memories they’re my only wealth, Os byw ac ia Why didn’t I see the single magpie on the lawn? Want answers to questions, between two worlds I’m torn, I’m blaming those and them for what went wrong, This hollowness of mine it feels so strong, Where you sat there’s now an empty chair, If alive and well I’d see you there, Heavy heart of mine will feel light in time, I wish you were alive and well, Looking back over the years gone by, Still got no answers to that question of why, But now I talk to you as if you’re by my side, I feel more confident with you as my guide, Os byw ac ia Where you sat there’s now an empty chair, If alive and well I’d see you there, Heavy heart of mine will feel light in time, I wish you were alive and well, My memories of you they are music to my ears, They give me purpose for the rest of my years, Thanks for everything you ever taught to me, Without your guidance where would I be? Os byw ac ia Where you sat there’s now an empty chair, If alive and well I’d see you there, Heavy heart of mine will feel light in time, I wish you were alive and well, I realise now just how much you cared, If alive and well I’d see you there, Heavy heart of mine does feel light in time, I’ll remember you alive and well. Os byw ac ia

Flying High 04:25
Flying High The soul of the breeze, Brings me down on my knees, The thrill of no boundaries, Is what I can’t deny, Horizons of light, Merge with the magic of night, Feel as free as a kite, When you’re flying high.

The Real World You call yourself a poor man’s friend but that ain’t how you’re seen, You’ll furnish us with fancy smiles but your show offs not for me, There’s thirty years between us baby yeah, but what you say it makes no sense, You just write off my protest as a line on your expense, How many times will you stay? Do you not read the polls? You can’t fool everyone all of the time with your back against the wall, Don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Just keep me in my place, It isn’t true to think you’re through with the human race, This is the real world, This is the real world, A million marched on London just to make you understand, You ignored the people’s voices said we’d have blood on our hands, I wonder how you see yourself relevant for modern times, That mad reflection in your eyes belongs to a mastermind, How many times will you stay? Do you not read the polls? You can’t fool everyone all of the time with your back against the wall, Don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Just keep me in my place, It isn’t true to think you’re through with the human race, This is the real world, This is the real world.

Red Clay 04:43
Red Clay Time comes to take me apart, Dismembered, waiting to depart, Unholy, slips slowly away, Mould coldly, hands split the red clay—red clay, Shot the bolt on the door to the prop room where my moods lie, Closed the shutters, turned the sockets to look back at me, Hid my skeleton guilt in the cupboards with a cold sigh, Fixed my broken smile, broken heart bleeding degree by degree, Cold sober holds over me, Hiding in lost misery, It can’t induce me to stay, Figures cast by potter’s hands red clay—red clay, Filed emotion away in the attic along with my old toys, Hung like highwaymen, strung from the cloisters in butcher shop rows, Wrapped my conscience in bandages, stranded and tangled with lost joys, But my mind I hid deep in the cellar where no other soul goes, And so in the end, On what does it all depend, What, who, why, how anyway? In the end it’s all just red clay—red clay.

Matter of the Heart A matter of the heart. It’s something that’s been driving me insane, Should I tell you I feel this heartache’s for real, Or say something in a similar vein? Never went to heart school, nor checked out the rules, How do I finish the task? You cause my heartburn, I’m desperate to learn, But which auricle should I ask? Why didn’t you drive a stake through my heart? I’m to blame for these years we’ve spent apart, The past is never over but if only you knew, I only want to be with you, A matter of the heart, Why did I drop our future down in the dust? You showed me the way and now I curse that day, When I was head over heels in lust, I should have kept my nerve, ‘cos love is a verb, I failed you voted with your feet, Looking back at my youth, I’ve realised the truth, And my heart just keeps on missing a beat, Why didn’t you drive a stake through my heart? I’m to blame for these years we’ve spent apart, The past is never over but if only you knew, I only want to be with you, Why didn’t you drive a stake through my heart? I’m to blame for these years we’ve spent apart, The past is never over but if only you knew, I only want to be with you.

Carpe Diem 03:23
Carpe Diem If there’s a shadow there must be a light, If you see colour then there’s black and white, The cloud you want it has a silver line, Clock watching for a job’s a waste of time, My mind’s making appointments that my body can’t keep, Got so much I want to do ain’t got no time to sleep, You got to do it now ‘cos time won’t wait, You put it off too long it’ll be too late, Live for today now it’s the only way, I spend my life keeping up with yesterday, The rocking horse is busy but it does not progress, Activity or value? That’s the question that tests, If I compare a rut and comfort zone, I see the difference is the depth alone, The lists I make don’t really mean a thing, I want to read more books but books don’t ring, I don’t have the time to be in a hurry, Vital not urgent for a life without worry.

Shoegazer 04:26
Shoegazer Walking by, my head held low, I’m a shoegazer don’t you know! Never look people in the eye, if only you could buy confidence online, Don’t hang around to debate, unless you want a free breakdown while you wait, Hand in hand with my invisible friend. It’s like déjà vu all over again, Life’s not hard, oh no it’s worse, I feel I’m going forward in reverse, Hamster wheel it keeps moving, I’m a human being not a human doing, Anyone remember laughter? Once upon a time’s ok, I need a happy ever after, My words they all come out wrong, it doesn’t help the song to my rhyme, Hear about the world’s blues, don’t care ‘cus all I see is my shoes.

Two Bit Hero 04:40
Two Bit Hero Can you see the world through those shades you wear? Does it boost your ego when two people stare? Was all of this for real or was it just a game? Were we just pawns in your pocket when you passed the blame? You’re just a two bit hero, You think that everybody is there to suit your needs, You take somebody’s heart to use but you don’t see when it bleeds, The way you strut around the town you think you own the land, But the thing that hangs between your legs belongs in your hand, You’re just a two bit hero, Too many times you’ve double crossed, you’ve cheated and thought you’d won, The ones you’ve left had trusted you and thought you were on the run. No one really sees you, no one whose left could care, When you finish and you’ve gone who’ll notice you’re not there, You’re just a two bit hero.

Kids on the Sand Candlestick maker and the city king, Listen to the fax and the telephone ring, Cat and dog and computer games, PC technology, financial gains, Your man’s in the office, he’s out in his car, He’s clawing his way to the suit and cigar, He’s put out the fire, he’s picked up his pen, But his children are left alone again, Why don’t you play with the kids on the sand? A seminar fiesta, a conference chain, All the best products are back here again, We’ll sell them our paper, our ribbons and disks, With a view to reducing workload risks, The post is essential, the banks can smile, The manager sitting, the assistants file, The captain looks up with pride at his men, But his children are left alone again, Why don’t you play with the kids on the sand? The rep speeds up to avoid a fine, Make sure the papers are signed on time, Shaking hands, the final seal, Securing up that precious deal, And if by chance he stops to think, About his shares all index linked, Would he realise while playing this game, That his children are left alone again? Why don’t you play with the kids on the sand?
